On March 25th you have an important choice to influence
the future of our schools by choosing two new members of the
School Committee.
Years ago, before Suzanne and I had children, we chose North
Andover for one important reason - the quality of the public
school system. Now that we have a son at the Atkinson Elementary,
and another entering shortly, I've seen the challenges and
problems our schools face.
As
a Financial Services Executive I've spent my entire career
problem solving. I would like to bring that skill to our schools
and our town. I offer my expertise to work as a solutions
oriented professional, as a citizen, and most importantly
as a parent. Sticking with a proven "Best Practices"
process is vital.
I
would begin by:
1) Engendering open and thoughtful discussion of priorities.
2) Identify the potential roadblocks to, and prospective resources
for achieving the priorities.
3) Set benchmarks to monitor and evaluate progress towards
the priorities.
In my profession I have been a "solutions driven"
manager. I believe a positive, can do attitude is vital to
making the right choices for our schools. Schools burdened
by underfunded federal mandates, the strain of increased class
sizes, and the competition for quality teachers. Yet I've
also seen the tremendous commitment of the parents, teachers,
and our Superintendent.
